If you have never been in the Marketplace on Broadway, you must include them next time you go shopping. This Ocala store is full of hidden treasures and unique pieces of clothing and jewelry. In business since 1996, owner Mary Stevens realized Ocala was missing clothing stores, and decided to open her own. “It kind of happened” says Mary “there was a need. I love clothes. I don’t like to shop, but I love clothes!” Mary was already very familiar with the wonderful world of fashion and trends. She worked for many years as the Couture salon manager for Neiman Marcus, and you can clearly see her experience and knowledge all over the store.

The store goes from the very basics to the interesting pieces you cant find anywhere else in Ocala. Like a beautiful printed corduroy skirt, I don’t remember ever seeing a corduroy piece with prints, or the coat that looks like leather - but is cotton. “We try to make everything we have exclusive, Ocala is too small not to do that!” says the proud owner. Marketplace on Broadway is the only place in Ocala where you can find brands like: 7 for all mankind, BCBG, Velvet Tees, W by Worth and Worth Collection (this collection has four trunk shows per year), JWLA, Me & Ro Jewelry, Lockheart handbags, and Knitted Dove, just to name a few. They sure know how to keep up with the ever-changing industry trends and, when these ladies go to market, they buy what they think you’ll like. Which is one of the things I like most about the store – the customer service. I walk in there and I’m welcomed by my name. Mary knows exactly what looks good on me and what doesn’t. There is plenty of space for me to try clothes on, and they are always very honest with me on what fits and what doesn’t. There is no sales pressure, shop at ease and enjoy yourself. 

One of my favorite things they have at the store are the B Straps. This overly cute jeweled bra straps are designed for you to be able to still wear your regular bra with a top that otherwise you needed to be braless or strapless. Wear that one shoulder top with your regular bra, just change the plain straps for the trendy jeweled ones and voila! Problem solved and you are ready to go.
