Wow! What a week I had. I’m writing this while on my flight from Houston to Tampa. After being out of Florida for 8 days I finally have a chance to sit down and blog. I decided that for this week’s blog I was going to comment on the many fashion observations from this weeks travels.
VEGAS- Not sure if its the spirit of the city, but everybody is way over the top, and not necessarily in a good way. I had the opportunity of staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Let’s just say I felt like I was part of the Jersey Shore cast. Tiny bathing suits, not so tiny bodies. More hair gel than I’ve seen in my whole life combined, and a great amount of confidence on what to wear for the pool (kudos to them). At least this is what I saw at Rehab Sundays. You can definitely tell who is a local and who is a crazy tourist in here.
But let me share with you something more in line with this blog... The Wynn! This is one of my favorite hotels in Vegas - the reason? The Esplanade shops. They have the only Alexander McQueen store in the area - there are only 3 stores in the country. It was like walking into fashion design heaven. The store is big and has many of his very distinctive designs. I particularly fell in love with a pair of blue sunglasses from his Summer collection. (See picture below) Don’t I look cute? A good friend of mine took my wallet away from me and didn’t let me buy them, but I still think they are worth every penny of the $360.00 sticker price. They are a beautiful blue color with red accents, not heavy, and they do protect your eyes from the sun. Plus, cheaper than the ones I’ve seen at Tiffany’s. As a McQueen fan, this was one of my favorite stops in Vegas. They even have his super cool Fantasy high heels! Be sure to stop by the Esplanade Shops in Vegas if you make the trip.
After all the eye-candy in Vegas, it was off to SAN DIEGO for more fashion findings. If you didn’t know, I had to be in San Diego for the American Advertising Federation National Conference. While there, we decided to explore the Fashion Valley mall. Here, I found a Missoni store. Missoni is one of my favorite fashion houses. This italian brand is highly recognized for their knits and for their colorful designs. To me, this was a magical moment, I’ve never been into a Missoni store before and getting to feel the clothes in my hands really made my day. Once again, my wallet was taken away from me. The summer collection was at a 40% discount - which meant that he $900.00 summer dress that I like was only a mere $450.00. And yes, totally worth it. Since Missoni didn’t get to come home with me, I went to Nordstrom, where shoes were 50% off. Score! A very nice pair of pale pink Badgley Mischkas for half their original price. BTW Pale pink is THE color the season. It reminds us of the cool summer beach afternoons and the romantic feel of the upcoming fall. I got to wear my super cute shoes at the ADDY® Awards on Saturday night and everybody loved them - see picture below.
Very different shopping experience from Ocala - Fashion valley mall has something for everybody. From H&M and Forever 21 to Neiman Marcus. Custo Barcelona, Tiffany’s and stores like Gap and Banana Republic are part of the shopping experience too. Glad I got to experience their stores and their styles while in both cities.
Well, I think thats it for now. Off to find pale pink anythings in Ocala. Im back!
